The School Board of Escambia County, Florida, convened in Special Meeting at 9:00 a.m. in the Board Room at the Dr. Vernon McDaniel (Administration) Building, 215 West Garden Street, Pensacola, Florida, with the following present:

Chairman: Mrs. Cary Stidham Vice Chairman: Dr. John DeWitt

Members: Dr. Elmer Jenkins

Mrs. Vanette Webb (was not present)

School Board Attorney: Mr. Francisco Negron

Superintendent of Schools: Mr. Jim May (was not present)

(Note that Mrs. Cary Stidham, Dr. John DeWitt, Dr. Elmer Jenkins, and Mr. Francisco Negron were in attendance at the Executive Session which immediately followed this meeting.)

I. ADOPTION OF AGENDA

Motion by Dr. Jenkins, second by Dr. DeWitt, to adopt the agenda, was approved 3-0 with Mrs. Webb absent.

II. REQUEST FOR EXECUTIVE SESSION REGARDING LITIGATION: PENSACOLA NEWS JOURNAL VS. ESTATE OF HAROLD MASON - CASE NO. 2005-CA-01-C

Motion by Dr. DeWitt, second by Dr. Jenkins, to go into Executive Session, was approved 3-0 with Mrs. Webb absent.

RECESS

The Special Meeting recessed at 9:02 a.m., and the Executive Session immediately followed in the Superintendent's Conference Room.

III. ADJOURNMENT

Upon conclusion of the Executive Session at 9:14 a.m., the Special Meeting adjourned at 9:18 a.m. (Official recordings of this meeting are filed in the Information Services Department.)
