THE SCHOOL BOARD OF

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FLORIDA

 

MINUTES, APRIL 11, 2000

The School Board of Escambia County, Florida, convened in Special Meeting at 10:00 a.m. in the Board Room at the Administrative Building, 215 West Garden Street, Pensacola, Florida, with the following present:

 

Chairman: Mrs. Cary Stidham Vice Chairman: Dr. John DeWitt

 

Members: Dr. Elmer Jenkins

Dr. Hal Mason

Mrs. Vanette Webb

 

Superintendent of Schools: Mr. Jim May

 

I. ADOPTION OF AGENDA

There being no objection, adoption of the agenda was unanimously approved.

 

II. PRESENTATION OF SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANS

The following schools presented their school improvement plans for the 1999-2000 school year:

10:00-10:10 A.M. ESEAL

10:20-10:30 A.M. NAVY POINT ELEMENTARY

10:40-10:50 A.M. SPENCER BIBBS ELEMENTARY

11:00-11:10 A.M. A. A. DIXON ELEMENTARY

11:20-11:30 A.M. HALLMARK ELEMENTARY

11:40-11:50 A.M. PENSACOLA HIGH

 

RECESS

Chairman Stidham called for a one hour recess at noon, and the meeting reconvened at 1:00 p.m.

1:40-1:50 P.M. YNIESTRA ELEMENTARY

2:00-2:10 P.M. FERRY PASS ELEMENTARY

3:20-3:30 P.M. BEULAH ELEMENTARY

 

(Dr. Mason left the meeting at 3:30 p.m.)

4:00-4:10 P.M. ESCAMBIA HIGH

4:20-4:30 P.M. PENSACOLA BOYS BASE

 

(Mrs. Stidham left the meeting at 4:30 p.m., and Dr. DeWitt presided as Chairman for the remainder of the meeting.)

 

4:40-4:50 P.M. PACE CENTER FOR GIRLS

5:00-5:10 P.M. JUVENILE JUSTICE SCHOOL

5:20-5:30 P.M. PENSACOLA ACADEMY FOR SUCCESS

 

Following each presentation, Board Members made comments and asked questions regarding individual plans. Since these presentations were done separately, it was recommended that the schools follow up and share information with each other on the many positive approaches and methodologies being used to emphasize student achievement.

 

III. ADJOURNMENT
